Thanks for more good wishes!

@EC2 - my US publishers are St. Martin's Press. No idea why they didn't purchase digital rights. *scratches head*

@Misfit - first time I've had one from Harriet so soon. She must like my books! :o

@Brenna - thanks for the link. I'll put all my US readers who ask onto it.

Ah, St Martins. I used to be with St. Martins. They would only publish me in hardcover but insisted on the paperback rights, and then didn't do anything with them except sit on them. They didn't publish in paperback themselves and wouldn't license anywhere else. They just published me in hardcover for the library market and it was massively frustrating.
Then some years ago, they offered for The Greatest Knight - usual low deal, saying there was no money in the kitty to offer more. At the same time, they were so sure of me accepting the deal, they went and put the title up on Amazon complete with book cover and ISBN! My agent said that ummm...actually we weren't interested and to take it down at once. So they doubled their offer. No, we said, and we parted company - they still didn't take down the book cover for weeks though.

Only for those of us not living in the States apparently :( It says not available to those living in the U.S on the Kindle page. I say we keep trying though!

How daft! I don't have a Kindle, but I just assumed that a Kindle download would be just like a music one, not region specific. After all, it doesn't make any difference where in the world a digital download comes from. Sounds more like the annoying DVD zoning system.

It's region specific becasue publishers are frequently region specific. I don't know who Ben's UK publishers are, but they're not St Martins Press. So therefore there's a demarkation of which publisher has the profit from e-book sales depending on geographical location. I am published by Sphere in the UK and Sourcebooks in the USA. So UK readers can get all of my books on Kindle, but USA ones can't. USA ones can only buy the Kindle editions that Sourcebooks have made available. So it's down to St Martins Press to get those e-book rights sorted and make Ben's book available in USA territories.
