I strongly resisted the e-reader thing. But then, I got tired of the fact that there are three physical bookstores, all equally pathetically stocked. So I was having to buy my books on amazon anyway, but then pay for and wait for shipping.

So I got a kindle, and I love it. It's lighter, all my books are there forever, and I can make the print really big!

As far as the self published thing, I love that too. I've read a bunch of self published stuff that is every bit as good as the traditional publisher fare, but it costs me far less.

I resent being charged $15 for an ebook. I resented paying that for a friggin paperback too, but now they don't even have to print, distribute, or retail, and they still want that? No thanks.

I'd much rather pay $5 for an e book and have that $5 go straight to the author than to a publisher.
Whoever wishes to foresee the future must consult the past; for human events ever resemble those of preceding times. This arises from the fact that they are produced by men who ever have been, and ever shall be, animated by the same passions, and thus they necessarily have the same results.

[quote=""MLE""] If you are going to keep any credibility in reviewing books, you're going to have to get an e-reader. But they're a lot cheaper now.

I don't see how having an e-reader (or reading ebooks in any format) gives you "credibility". Can you explain this?

I'm with Divia - I don't want an e-reader and I have no interest in reading books on my computer (I've tried - it's not for me). I spend enough time on the computer for work and playing on the internet.

I have been getting more requests to review e-books, but I just tell them I don't read them.

I probably would have never caved, but for the fact that I got a nice GC so it wasn't money out of pocket. I do find myself reading on the kindle more than I thought I would, especially now that the library lending is available.

I'm with Tanzanite though, I can't handle reading on the computer. I do a bit with my kindle books on my work break time (Kindle app for PC), but my eyes strain pretty quickly.
At home with a good book and the cat...
