Historical Novel Society meeting

Post by EC2 » Sun March 6th, 2011, 4:54 pm

Just thought I'd post this here in case anyone missed it on the HNS e-list and wants to go along. I know Pia from the RNA and a few of the other London members and they're all friendly and welcoming.

'Just wanted to let you all know that the London chapter of the HNS will be holding our second meeting next Saturday, 12th March and everyone is welcome to come along!

It's at the Hoop & Toy pub in South Kensington, just round the corner from the tube station, and we'll be in the upstairs function room (please e-mail me if you need more directions). We'll start at 12.30 –
lunch can be purchased in the bar downstairs and eaten in the function room
before we start the meeting proper at approximately 1.30pm. The topic for discussion next time will be
historical novel that you feel cannot be pigeon-holed or whose exact genre is
difficult to determine. (This was in
response to a question raised about whether novels who do not fit into
pre-determined categories like ‘Tudor’ or ‘Regency’ are more difficult to
pitch/sell to publishers)

If you can't make it this time, but would like to join us next time, we'll be meeting again on Saturday 9th April at the same venue
but at 3pm (and after that we will try to vary the day of the week as well in
order to give more people a chance to attend.)
Les proz e les vassals
Souvent entre piez de chevals
Kar ja li coard n’I chasront

'The Brave and the valiant
Are always to be found between the hooves of horses
For never will cowards fall down there.'

I hope to be there (if that's any inducement!)

I'll be there in spirit...too bad my body's stuck far across the ocean! I would love to hear your thoughts on the discussion afterwards.
