Just started Heresy by SJ Parris. It's meant to be a bit like the Shardlake novels but this time set in Elizabethan times with Giordano Bruno as the hero. It's good so far :)

Hoping to finish Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon this weekend, but grading tests and essays and lesson plans stand in the way. I'm 75% done with the book and while I like it, it's not the WOW! book that Outlander was.

I've finished "The Secret Wife of Louis XIV: Francoise d'Aubigne, Madame de Maintenon" by Veronica Buckley (456pgs, 2008). What a fascinating life this woman led, she had some very admirable qualities and some not so appealing ones, but this book was more sympathetic to her then descriptions I've read of her in other books in the past.

Finished Before Versailles by Karleen Koen, which I enjoyed immensely. About to start Elizabeth I by Margaret George. I got an advance finished copy; it's big, close to 700 pages. Lots of Liz to revel in :)

THE TUDOR SECRET, Book I in the Elizabeth I Spymaster Chronicles

I liked this one a lot. I'm looking forward to the next one, Prophecy.

Not quite sure what to pick up next, but I did just finish Lily Cigar by Tom Murphy. Starts in old New York and then on to San Francisco. Excellent rags to riches tale.

I'm reading CW Gortner's Confessions of Catherine De Medicci. And I'm totally digging the little touches of magic realism in her visions. But then, I would... ;)
