 Working today. Nothing special with Sunday pay. It used to be that working Sundays was voluntary but not anymore.

Wasn't sure where to post this but here is probably the right area of the forum.
My dad had another stroke last night. Don't know how bad yet but it means having to take time out to visit in hospital and help out at home while still pulling in the day job, so although I'll still be around on the forum, any silences are due to to domestic crises.

EC, best wishes for your dad and sending good thoughts your way!

For me the worst thing, which is more of a general annoyance is that I got the dreaded email from Booksfree saying that some of the books on my queue have been removed due to wear and tear or are not longer available through their distributor. I'm disappointed but none of the books were ones I really really wanted to read enough that I'd buy copies on my own. Guess that's good but still annoying.

EC - I'm so sorry to hear about your father's most recent stroke and hope you all hear good news about his condition very soon. Thoughts and prayers are with you.

I don't know if I should be posting this in The Best Thing - turns out he's had a TIA, and was okay to go home this evening. Why did he have a TIA? The previous day he'd gone for a bike ride - 80yr old bloke and previous stroke victim you understand - and ridden 46 miles. They say the TIA was most likely caused by this. So now he's going to have to be persuaded that although he has recovered from a stroke, he still has to mind what he can and can't do - and 46 miles is obviously a can't from now on!
