Yikes, I'd be freaked out. Did you call the police? Yeah I know whoever it is is long gone, but at least they'd be aware of it and keep an eye out for strangers.

My problem with Booksfree has gotten a little odder. I'm supposed to be shipped 2 books at a time, but my Orders says one has been shipped and still only says I have 5 "out", 2 which haven't been shipped yet. I emailed BF support and they say something is wrong and are trying to sort it out. Plus the book that got shipped wasn't one I wanted yet, so I don't know if I'll be reading it when it shows up. And, the book I've been waiting to read "The Last Queen", is back on my queue and not being shipped as of yet. Sigh, I'm getting a headache over this.

It's Friday, and the preacher at the mosque over on Atlantic Avenue is so agitated about something that I can hear him from a block and a half away. (the daily calls to prayer I quite like hearing; they provide a rhythm to the day; the weekly sermon I can't usually hear at all unless I'm on Atlantic itself.) This is the same mosque that Al-Qaeda does fund raising at -- should I be worried? :(

I got a letter today from the Department of Treasury saying the $250 I was going to be getting has been given to the US Department of Education to pay off part of a debt I had from 15 or so years ago. NOT HAPPY!

Don't worry Chatterbox. If that's where the money comes from, they won't be blowing up the neighborhood anytime soon.

LOL, LH, point taken! And the local Yemeni deli owner (the one who gave me Cassie-the-deli-kitten) had promised, very kindly, to warn me of any plots to blow up parts of New York that he hears about at the mosque, so I can get out of town ahead of time.

Alright, I try to keep my competitive nature off this forum but I dare anyone to top this:

Some men (more like boys really) were here this morning to work on our house. They left the doors open and let the five year old walk right past them. It was very nice of them to point me in the right direction though. There's nothing quite like looking up and seeing your child standing in the middle of a railroad track to make your heart stop beating. Luckily this was a time of day during which there are no trains for several hours. I did pull one of the guys aside and explain a few things. They were much more careful after that. Of course having more of the crew (and by this I mean grown-ups) here later helped.

There is a good point to this though: it sure puts my oldest's suspension from school into perspective.

Sometimes I think my kids are trying to win the Darwin award. Some of the schemes they hatch up really defy common sense. The other day, the oldest wanted to build a fort on the trampoline and was carrying chairs out there. I had to put a stop to that!

My worst thing today is that I forgot my cell phone. I don't use the cell for chit chat, just for emergencies and to contact my husband... but given how Murphy's Law works, something will happen and I'll need it when I'm without. I hate it when I forget stuff!
