Vanessa: I hope things work out and your daughter and husband can come to some understanding!
LoveH: yeah, it seems to have finally ceased over night, thankfully! I just hope it doesn't come back or I see a doctor visit in my immediate future!

I got bit! By a spider! And it was my own fault
I was being extremely lazy last night and I tossed my robe onto the floor just before bed (we just bought new carpet, and so it didn't seem like such a bad idea at the time!). But when I put on the robe this morning, I felt something crawling up my arm and I got bit. This is absolutely one of my worst nightmares!!!!!!!!! I loathe spiders.

SNOW! It looks like it was melting the last time I looked out, which is good but UGH! I hope it doesn't interfere with us going to town today as we need to go to the pharmacy and the store.

We had an excellent meeting of my historical fiction book group last night -- seven of us discussing "I Claudius".
But, unfortunately, the venue (Borders in Oxford Street) completely screwed up. My contact there had confirmed the booking but when we got there she had left for the day and no one else knew anything about it and they didn't have the agreed space for us. They found us a nice enough space on another floor and promised to redirect anyone else asking about the group to where we now were.
I found out when I got home that two other people had turned up, couldn't find us and were told by staff that they knew nothing about it!!
I'm so upset for those guys that had read the book, turned up and wasted their time. Anyway, the two of them apparently found each other and had a nice mini discussion...
Well, we need to find a nice venue next time. But it needs to be a quiet place in central London which is difficult to find.
For our next book, we are going to choose between:
In The Company of the Courtesan - Sarah Dunant
The Floating Book - Michelle Lovric
Voyageurs - Margaret Elphinstone

This whole week is just off. I thought it started out ok. Went to the Canton meeting, asked not to be Chronicler anymore. Got my wish. I got voted into a new office that I've wanted to try. Then two days later I realize I used the wrong multiplier in figuring the yearly cost of the newsletter.
My brain is just not working all that well. It's like it's wearing a heavy, fuzzy sweater. Wish I could just sleep all day.
