I know how you feel, Rockygirl. I had to replace two tyres this week! :eek: Run flats, too, which are just a little more expensive! My car has got to go back in to have the wheel bearings replaced as well, so a very expensive week for me.

Our basement has a few inches of rain in it, thankfully nothing is in there but our washer and dryer but I'm worried about those!

Interest in HF: started in childhood with the classics, which, IMHO are HF even if they were contemporary when written.
Favorite HF book: Prince of Foxes, by Samuel Shellabarger
Preferred HF: Currently prefer 1600 and earlier, but I'll read anything that keeps me turning the page.

A good friend died today. Lung cancer, although she quit a decade ago. I know it's probably redundant, but if any of you forumites are smokers, quit already!

My sympathies to you and your friend's family, MLE. How awful.

On a more mundane note, our front door seems to have swollein due to the cold, and the only way to open it, is to go out from the back door, put the key in the lock - and give the bottom of the door a hefty kick. Not much good for the door, but quite a good stress-buster.
