Favourite Jean Plaidy Novel

I was just wondering which of her novels people enjoyed the most. For me it was The Princess of Celle, The Catherine De Medici trilogy and the two about the Borgias

I'd say her novels about Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard. I also liked her ones about William and Mary and about Queen Anne.

I enjoyed her Norman trilogy and her books on the Plantagenets (didn't read all of them, just the first few in the series). But her book that is the most memorable for me is a little-known stand-alone called It Began in Vauxhall Gardens (also published as Melisande).

I really enjoyed Plaidy/Holt in my teens and twenties, but she hasn't held up well for me over time, and I don't read her works anymore. However, she did write a NF book about the Spanish Inquisition that I want to try one of these days.

I've only read a handful so far but it's a tie between "Flaunting, Extravagant Queen" and the Borgias series. I only learned about Jean Plaidy a few years ago so I'm slowly making my way through her books.

My favourite is The Goldsmith's Wife aka The King's Mistress, a sympathetic look at the life of Jane Shore, mistress to Edward IV.

I loved The Courts of Love (Eleanor of Acquitaine) and Victoria Victorious (at least I think that's the title).

My favorite is The Lady in the Tower. I also really liked Evergreen Gallant (about Henry IV of France) mostly because he and Marguerite are quite the characters! I recently finished Madonna of the Seven Hills and it was pretty good as well.

I liked Evergreen Gallant too. I bought Madonna of the Seven Hills during a recent Amazon binge, er, shopping trip.

My two favourites when I was young were Royal Road to Fotheringay and Evergreen Gallant. I reread EG a couple of years ago and thought it was poorly written in parts, even though I was still enchanted by the character of Henri. I’ve got a few old Plaidys on the bookshelf but am now hesitant to read them.
