I've had "Encyclopedia of the Exquisite: An Anecdotal History of Elegant Delights" on my Amazon WL for awhile, glad to know it's good.

How did you end up feeling about the Motley book?

Actually, I liked it. It was a touch on the light side, but I loved how the men were portrayed, especially Stanislas and Peter III -- I almost felt sorry for Peter, he was such an irredemmable clot.

Peter was a riot in all his nutty glory. I agree it's on the lighter side, but his characterization alone more than made up for it.
