Clearly I am the only one who was not bowled over by that book

I read his novel Siege a while back- it's set around the Fall of Constantinople to the Turks in 1453. There aren't many novels around on the subject- surprising given that it was such a dramatic and significant event- so I was looking forward to Hight's book. Somehow, though, it just didn't do it for me, though it's an entertaining enough adventure which perhaps owes something to Mika Waltari's Dark Angel. I kept feeling it could have been so much better.Just finished Eagle by Jack Hight, about the youth of Saladin.
