I am currently reading "The Building of Jalna" written in the 1940s by Canadian author Mazo de la Roche. It seems to be set in the 18th or 19th century (an actual year is never mentioned), and is about a young, wealthy, beautiful Anglo-Irish couple (he's English, she's Irish) who, when they inherit property left to them by an uncle, seize the opportunity to immigrate to Canada. This book is the first in a series of 16, I believe, so I assume it is about the family dynasty they build in Ontario.
I am about 1/4 of the way through and am not really loving the author's style, so I probably won't read any more of the series. However, since many on this forum really like the works of Gwen Bristow, and since de la Roche's style reminds me somewhat of Bristow's, I'm mentioning her books because some of you might be interested in reading them.
