I read a review that said it was not worth the time, the chracters are undeveloped and that the two main people are retched......so I bought it, who cares if I don't think they are likable and I like thick books.
I think it is definitely worth the time. It is a jolly good read, and yes the main characters are retched...but that is what makes this book so delicious, they really take you on a wild ride!
I read a library copy a while back, but would definitely look around to purchase the book.
Has anyone read The Kings Favorite about Charles II and Nell Gynn or The Rose of York: Love and War?
I've read The Rose of York. I didn't like it, but I'm one of those folk who believe that Richard III was not a saint and that the Woodvilles were not the embodiment of all evil. I also didn't care for its portrayal of William Hastings as a rapist who preys on virgin peasant girls. The Sunne in Splendour, I think, is a much more balanced picture of all involved.
I thought of reading SKP's because her books are great but exhausting sometimes and thought it would be nice to find some more authors to add in my growing stack of books
There's a ton of fiction about Richard III besides SKP's. The Richard III Society has a short list here, and our own Jane Consumer has one on Amazon.
