Kate Morton's The Distant Hours. Pretty good, but not as good as Forgotten Garden.

Kathleen Kent's The Heretic's Daughter. I was expecting a little more on the witch trial's themselves and it seemed like the end was a little rushed. However, pretty good read for my first Salem book.

Just finished Nevada Barr's Burn. To say I enjoyed it would be weird considering the content but it was well written.

DNF Great Mariaby Cecelia Holland as it was just too much for me. I may come back to it just to say I finished it, but not today.

For some light reading, I went back to one of my favorite Nora Robert's triology-The Key series. Read all three in 3 days!

Finished The Lady MacBeth and thoroughly enjoyed it! A great way to start my King Arthur-Elizabeth II challenge!

Brenna,

I go more by season to season than Jan 1 - Dec. 31. So, I say starting your year in December is just fine.

Finished I am the Chosen Kingby Helen Hollick. The grammatical errors were a bit distracting in some places and it is very obvious that Ms. Hollick with a Harold fan (which she never hides anyway) but overall, I really enjoyed the book. Not knowing much about that time period other than the ending, I felt like she provided a lot of useful and insightful information.

There were a lot of typos in the ARC, and I'm guessing something happened in the scanning of the original edition. I didn't recall any of that in the orginal version, but never dragged it out for a comparison.

I've noticed that in Vanora Bennett's books originally published in the UK, particularly Figures in Silk. You would think the editors would give things a good going over though.
