9) The Fiery Cross by Diana Gabaldon; finished 4/25/11; This book could have used some judicious editing. It went on and on. Instead of a cohesive plot, it consisted of many episodes. I absolutely love the characters, but felt that this was the weakest of the series, hopefully...I still have two more books to go and supposedly one more is in the works.

10) A Breath of Snow and Ashes by Diana Gabaldon; finished 5/22/11; I liked how the ending tied up all the loose ends.

12) Madame Tussaud by Michelle Moran; finished 6/21/11; Michelle Moran effectively evokes the terror of the people who lived through the French Revolution felt. I've read several novels that take place in this time period and it is always startling to see exactly what was done for liberty, fraternity, and equality. I liked that the novel was told from the point of view of a real person, whose name is certainly known by most, but whose personal history is probably not well known.

15) The Raven in the Foregate by Ellis Peters; finished 7/5/11; at least Brother Cadfael had a murder to solve in this one unlike the last one!

16) The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan; finished 7/7/11; Wasn't as good as the Harry Potter books, but if this series gets kids to read and learn about Greek mythology, that's good enough for me.

17) The Rose Rent by Ellis Peters; finished 7/11/11; This is the Brother Cadfael I remember. Thought the previous two books in the series didn't give Cadfael enough mystery to sink his teeth into.
