Well I went to Borders today to check out the 50% off closing down sale prices. I haven't shopped in Borders for some time now, as their prices are so inflated here it is crazy. And today's visit proved it.....at 50% off I can still get the books I was interested in cheaper from BD!
One of the examples I can remember is The Queen's Lady by Barbara Kyle. Borders price was $36 or there abouts. So at 50% off $18. On BD I can get it for $8.57.
Susanna Gregory books were around the $23, so $11.50 at 50%. BD price is as good as $8.07.
I left the store with nothing.....well we did have morning tea in the coffee shop.

Been on a bit of a splurge today:
Ordered "The Dead Travel Fast" by Deanna Raybourne from amazonmarketplace, all the way from the US; it doesn't seem to be available here.
And then in a 3 for 2 in Waterstone's:
The Anatomy of Ghosts by Andrew Taylor (period ghost story)
The Shooting in the Shop by Simon Brett (modern crime)
A Question of Belief by Donna Leon (modern Venetian crime)
and rummaging around at work in a recently vacated office we found a box of books, from which I took:
"Broken" by Kelly Armstrong
"Roots of Evil" by Sarah Rayne

After today I don't think I'll be doing well at the Paperbackswap biggest loser challenge. I have The Second Duchess by our own Elizabeth Loupas from a win at LT, Mary of Carisbrooke by MC Barnes courtesy of Sourcebooks and an interesting haul from a visit to a newly found used book outlet in my own neck of the woods. Some interesting finds and I think this link to the shelf I put them on at Goodreads will be easiest. I've already frittered away a couple of hours finding covers for them and banging out jacket blurbs for the GR page info.
BTW, anyone visiting Seattle or even with a long lay over at SeaTac airport should check this place out. Once Sold Tales, and it's right down the hill in the Kent valley from the airport. Books go at $1/lb.
