Queen Elizabeth II is a great grandmother!

Post by Susan » Thu December 30th, 2010, 5:15 pm

Queen Elizabeth II became a great grandmother on December 29, 2010. Her new great granddaughter (as of yet unnamed) is the first child for her grandson Peter Phillips (son of Princess Anne) and his wife Autumn.

First great-grandchild for Queen

Maybe they'll name her "Spring"? ;) Congrats to Philip, Autumn, Grandma Anne and great-grandma Elizabeth!

Or they could name her Summer. I actually knew of a girl named Winter.

I wonder is she really unnamed or has the name just not been released yet?

Probably not released. The British royals usually let the name be known within a few days of the birth.

There is another imminent royal birth Australian-born Crown Princess Mary of Denmark is due to give birth to twins in January. She and her husband, Crown Prince Frederik, already have two adorable children: Christian is 5 and Isabella is 2 1/2.

What ever happened to Princess Anne? I remember as a kid she was a trouble maker of sorts, and she rode horses a lot.

I don't remember her being a troublemaker  However nowadays she's the hardest working member of the Royal Firm, doing loads of engagements, most of which are hardly reported in the press or on TV unless it's something really massive. I like the way she seems to have brought up her children to be about as normal as they could be, Zara was a bit wild I think, but seems to have matured nicely.
