I dunno, Im surprised that they didn't do something today to commemorate this:

On May 9, 1994, South Africa's newly elected parliament chose Nelson Mandela to be the country's first black president.

But then it could be because I've never been all that interested in Hargreaves work. So carry on...

I didn't know who he is either, but he created the Mister Men/Little Misses children's books, which are hugely popular in the UK.
