April 13: The 240th Anniversary of the Birthday of Richard Trevithick (UK)
Image

He was a British (Cornish) inventor and mining engineer. His most significant success was the high pressure steam engine and he also built the first full-scale working railway steam locomotive.

April 15: The 122nd Anniversary of the Birth of Charlie Chaplin (Global)
Image

There's a somewhat humourous clip that plays when you click on it (at a google site only), though of course it's not the real Charlie.

His actual birthday is the 16th.

Oh I didn't realize that! Cool!

I loved that 'Chaplin' film - rather a perfect imagining of his work. I still can be brought to tears by his films like the scene in Gold Rush on New Years Eve when he realizes he'd been dreaming, but then I'll be rolling on the floor laughing in the same movie when he's trying to enjoy eating his boot, the only thing in the cabin to eat. Or the 'roll dance'. Or when he's trying to dance with a girl, not realizing he is holding on to a lease and is shooing the dog away....oh my. Time to pull out my collection and start rewatching them.
