Dark Shadows film

Post by chuck » Wed November 24th, 2010, 6:05 pm

This might be old news; but Johnny Depp has signed on to play Barnabas Collins....with Tim Burton Directing....Not a fan of the TV series....but will watch Depp do his usual competent job....My DW loved the the Old DS...and can't wait to see the Film....

I loved the series when it came out - I was in Jr Hi and it was just made for that age (sort of like all the vampire movies and books are really HS targeted). Tried to watch one of the Shadows shows a while back and it was so bad I turned it off after 10 minutes. Depp as Barnabas? I can so see that, and hope its good enough to watch.

Whose playing Quentin? I actually had more of a crush on him than I did Barnabus.

I think the show was relaunched in the 90s, but due to poor ratings got the ax. I still liked it though.

They were going to reboot the tv show aboug 3 years ago but that went no where.

This could be interesting.

Oh, I loved that series. It was always a race to get home from school to watch it. Who is playing Angelique? Quentin?

My mom was a big fan of the original and even named my sister Angelique after one of the characters.

Me too! It was on at 4 PM and I always watched it with my mother. Here's the Internet Movie Database page. It's in pre-prooduction and there is no information other than Johnny Depp as Barbabas Collins and Tim Burton as the director.

I've never heard of this series, I wonder if it was ever shown in the UK?

Oh man, you missed out. Campy as h*** and we'd probably die of laughter at the costumes and sets now but back in my younger days I loved it. Vampires. Werewolves. Parallel universe. Time travel. Seriously good fun and IIRC it was all shot live.

I remember my mother sending me out of the room when the show was on because she thought it was too scary (I would have been pre-K/K age). Being inquisitive I would still try to sneak peek and listened to it from the next room.

It would be cool if they got some of the original actors to do cameos. I remember David Selby as Quentin... Always thought he aged rather well.
