Assalamu'Alaikum (Greetings).

Sigh, another one.
This fund I am writing you about is $10.5 million U.S.Dollars which my
late father deposited under a Security Vault for my mother and I, and
Mr.Usman Hamad who was suppose to receive this consignment in Malaysia
was demanding for 40% which my mother and I did not agree with him,
that was why we had to stopped the delivery to him immediately and
search for another Beneficiary who can assist us on this and also be
trusted.

NOTE: I must be honest with you, you are not the first person we have
contacted after we had that misunderstanding with our former
beneficiary, but they thought this is one of the numerous scam. I and
my mother are willing to give you 20% for your assistance, because
that was the former agreement we had with our former partner. Mr.
Usman Hamad before he later changed his mind because of his greed that
led my mother and I to put a stop for the delivery.

Please, if you are willing to assist us, kindly reply me for more
details as soon as
possible.

Stay Bless.

Yours Sincerely,
Johnson Omoha Titoe

If you read this one with the appropriate accent, it's really quite funny. :D

I just found one that was interesting. This time the claim is to be the widow of Alexander Litvinenko. There is even a link to a news article about him.

The grammar isn't as bad as the usual, but the return email is noreply at switched.com which apparently is a popular domain for scammers. Also the contact email is ypsrr.inc at gmail.com. The IP is in the US.

The resquest is for the recipient to transfer the funds "to your country for charity purpose and use your discresion on investment without any publicity involvement."

Seems like the scammers have reached a new low.

I don't know enough French to translate the first one but if they mean 175,000 euros then it's just under $235,000 and thus probably not worth the trouble. ;)

The second one is fun. Like there aren't any people in Cote D'Ivoire who need help.

In a nutshell, it's saying that it's not a spam or a virus, but is notification that you have been awarded 175,000 Euros by the Bill Gates Foundation, and that if you want to claim your award you need to contact the person/department at the bottom of the notice. I can't quite make out what the alleged department or bureau is, but the word "school" is in there - ? And it's in Abidjan in the Ivory Coast.

ETA: Maybe someone whose French isn't rusty like mine (Ken? Moppet?) could translate the department/bureau/institution that is supposed to be contacted. That's half the fun of these, is to see what crazy institutions they make up!

I am very sure it is legit then. I know the Gates foundation always always always gives money away to us mere consumers. Not :D
