I have noticed that Betterworld books accepts some books for donation too.

After reading some posts here on another thread, I decided to try book-swapping and joined two online sites. In two days, I have disposed of 17 books! My little non-hoarding heart is thrilled! :D

I am a little astounded at how fast my books were snapped up. Is this typical, or just a case of beginner's luck?

I think it mainly depends on what books you list. On PaperbackSwap, I list some review books I've finished with (not review copies but finished books), and I've found that certain authors or categories get snapped up very quickly while others just languish.

I have wondered how many of those snapped up books are sold on Ebay or Amazon after the fact. I guess it doesn't matter - either way they are going to someone who'll apprecieate them. I suspect tho that it might be why some authors go faster than others.

I keep most of them because I hate throwing books away. I'm generally not a hoarder - anything else gets recycled or given to charity shops - but I can't part with my books. It's too nice having a heaving bookshelf!

Both OH & I are avid readers, and compulsive book-buyers. We currently have one room designated as the "library", and two others have decent-sized bookshelves (all chockers... :D )

We had a big clear out when we moved in toether - mmostly because we have similar tastes & a lot of duplicated books. I started off listing on eBay (got rid of about 100 that way, but it was a tedious process), and then one of our big bookchains had a charity-drive for the townships burnt-out by the Black Saturday fires, so we donated the rest of them to that. We both take very good care of our books, and most look like they had never been read.
(*giggle* The first time we took a box down I asked how many books were they wanting. The lovely assistant said "as many as possible", so i told her we'd be back in an hour with a shopping trolley-full. Her face when we wheeled in the trolley full of books! :D :eek :)

Just this week I decided to try book-swapping, and joined two sites. I have been fairly astounded at the results. In less than a week I have shipped out 21 books! Hopefully I will have as much success when it comes to getting books that I want.......
