October 2010: What Are You Reading?

I've finished "What Alice Knew: A Most Curious Tale of Henry James and Jack the Ripper" by Paula Marantz Cohen (341pgs, 2010). The three siblings of Henry James, Williams James and Allice James use their combined intelligence to solve the mystery of the Ripper murders.

Interesting book, interesting take on the murders. I liked it.

P.S: I was just thinking that I the last few years I always seem to read a novel about Jack the Ripper at this time of year, around the time he did his killings, and as I was checking my master reading list I discovered that I finished a book on Jack on this day back in '08, how funny!

I didn't get very much reading done on our trip, so I'm still reading Virgin and the Crab by Robert Parry. I had a little trouble getting into it at first, but so far, am enjoying it very much.

I'm reading Stuart Carroll's Martyrs and Murderers: The Guise Family and the Making of Europe (NF). Interesting reading. I'm also dipping into Helen Castor's She-Wolves: The Women Who Ruled England Before Elizabeth (NF: the Empress Matilda, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Isabella of France, and Margaret of Anjou)

I really liked this one. I found his look at the Guises fascinating.

Finished Love's Wild Desire by Jennifer Blake. Really enjoyable romance and very tame sex wise despite the lurid cover. I'm staring at two Amazon Vine books I Must Read Soon, a goodreads win I Should Read Soon and BB's Queen of Lost Hopes. What's a girl to do?

That would have been my choice

I'm looking forward to this one. Margaret of Anjou doesn't get much of a break in hf and she's so interesting.
