My library finally informed me My Name is Mary Sutter is available for me to pick up. Even though the September BOTM discussion is over, I'll probably start it tonight anyway. Have we decided on an October book yet?
Started Isabella: Queen Without a Conscience by Rachel Bard this morning while waiting at the BMV to register my daughter's car. Didn't get very far though - despite there being long line of people waiting at the door in front of me this morning when they opened (I'm guessing about 25 or so), I was in and out of there in less than 30 minutes.
Seventrees by Janice Young Brooks. 1800's Kansas, and the slavery issue is just really heating up.

Just finished Alys Clare's "The Joys of My Life"....A Mystical mystery....A band of very evil Knights, Cathars, Forest People, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Richard the Lionheart, Henry II all painted with broad brush.......And really I like Dark Medieval Mysteries..... too much mystical mixed into the plot....Wanted to like the novel...But disappointed
Simon Acland's Waste Land. Absolutely loving this novel, which is a twist on the Grail Quest. Academic bitchiness and rivalry are stirred by the discovery of a medieval manuscript which may have been the source of Chrétien de Troyes' romance Perceval, the Story of the Grail. Running in tandem is the manuscript's story - the adventures of a young monk turned knight who accompanies his cousin Godfrey de Bouillon, Duke of Lower Lorraine, on his expedition to the Holy Land during the First Crusade. Great combination of literary/academic satire and rollicking adventure. (Anyone who followed the furore caused by the appointment of Dr John Hood as Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University will appreciate this one
)
