[QUOTE=LoveHistory;68988]Hi Richard. Any chance you're descended from Richard Warren of Mayflower fame?

I am a DIRECT descendant of Richard Warren (I am related to three of those Mayflower folks). But, I am not named after him. My parents liked the name Richard (so do I), and my paternal grandfather's name was Maurice Warren Field - I got his middle name. My mother's mother started looking into our geneology back around the 1970s and 1980s. She gathered all this information, including that we are (on my mother's side) descendant from Richard Warren. She tracked back the Fosters, also in my line, to pre William the Conqueror over in England. I love the Richard Warren coincidence. And I am pretty impressed when someone is informed enough about the Mayflower folks to ask about it!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm still getting the knack of how to work the posting and the replying and the edits and the previews... But it is great to be part this international community.

Well I'm pleased to meet you, Cousin Richard. I'm descended from him as well. Though we lost the name when (Katherine) Almira Warren married George Jacobs. Fancy meeting a relative on here!

Hi Richard, glad to have you here. The quote function takes a bit of getting used to, but don't be afraid to ask if you have questions. We're right friendly here ;)

Interest in HF: started in childhood with the classics, which, IMHO are HF even if they were contemporary when written.
Favourite HF book: Prince of Foxes, by Samuel Shellabarger
Preferred HF: Currently prefer 1600 and earlier, but I'll read anything that keeps me turning the page.
Location: California Bay Area

Hi Richard! Gee, Country and Opera are my two favorites...
Just kidding. I like Classical and Folk, My husband likes Jazz first and just about anything next, as he's an amateur musician.

But when it comes to reading, I like straight, well-written, accurate HF.
