I cringe at hearing someone or a group called Nazi because of their strict adherence to something. I prefer to keep that label to mean the murderous monsters who killed millions. But thats just me.
I just now saw this comment. I meant no offense by use of the term "Nazi." I rarely use the term myself and hadn't given it a lot of thought, but I can see how some would be bothered by it being loosely bandied about -- it could be perceived as a cheapening of what the Nazis really were. That was not my intent and, again, my apologies for any offense.
January's "History in the News" is up on my blog covering the controversy over Cleopatra's Needle in Central Park (Egypt wants it back), our new human cousins from Siberia, bog bodies and much more. Comments welcome!
I wonder if they also want the one in London as well, not to mention the Rosetta Stone.

Just posted a special update on my blog about what's happening with the Egyptian museums and archaeology sites during the current upheaval. Both good news and bad news...but the Library at Alexandria isn't burning!

It's been a while since I put up a new History in the News segment on my blog, so have lots of goodies. Several stories from this forum made it into the roundup, but there's much more: a cluster of biblical related news announcements, more looted treasure returned, lots of tech stories to show how archaeology has progressed since the 1930's (when "Raiders of the Lost Ark" was set), and a sad follow-up on the plight Libya's historical sites. Stop by!
