Probably not this pilot's best day ever

Postby Misfit » Wed August 18th, 2010, 1:32 am

I didn't realize what happened until afterwards and saw the news. The President was here in Seattle for several appearances and some poor soul in a small Cessna accidentally wandered into restricted airspace. The F15's from Portland National Guard were scrambled and rushed like mad to Seattle to intercept the poor soul. As I read it, he'd already landed but faced quite a grilling from the Secret Service.

I didn't hear the boom, but the windows at the office made the most unusual *whoop* sound. The reporters on the radio say that these planes can travel from Portland to Seattle in next to nothing (about a three hour drive). Let's hope his BP has survived this day  :o

Worse yet, he and the girlfriend were back from what I assume was a long, pleasant stay at Lake Chelan. What a way to end a vacation. Not.

And even though it was innocent, he still might be charged with something or fined. Poor guy!

Oh, once you hear those sonic booms from a jet, you don't forget them. I grew up on air bases, and the worst were the sounds from when there was a crash, and the emergency vehicles were going to the sites.
