I'm in modern day Devon living in a spooky old house where cellars doors unlock themselves, puddles appear on the floor and running footsteps can be heard. There is also a malevolent presence. I'm not at all sure I'd want to live there.

The book is called "The Haunting" by Alan Titchmarsh.
