Greetings from Seattle

Postby Vaughn Entwistle » Fri July 9th, 2010, 3:17 pm

Hello everyone,

I’m a freelance writer/editor living near Seattle Washington. I lived in England until I was nineteen and still go back frequently, especially to do research for my historical novels. The last time I went back two years ago I spent a lot of time around London and especially Highgate Cemetery where my Victorian suspense novel, Angel of Highgate is set.

When I’m not writing I’m sculpting and have a small business called Masque Statuary that produces a line of gothic stuff such as gargoyles and candleholders. I also do a number of historical/mythological based pieces such a Neo-Assyrian Griffin plaque, Celtic Dragon Knot, etc. (Web site coming just as soon as I’ve mastered Dreamweaver.)

I tend to write the same kind of books I like to read and vice-versa. Some favorite recent reads include The Black Tower by Louis Bayard (and anything historical by Bayard). Drood by Dan Simmons, and The Casebook of Victor Frankenstein by Peter Ackroyd.

I look forward to participating in the forum and meeting many new friends.

Yes, and we Washingtonians are currently the highest posters on the forum (it's the weather, I'm sure of it! ;) ).

Interest in HF: started in childhood with the classics, which, IMHO are HF even if they were contemporary when written.
Favorite HF book: Prince of Foxes, by Samuel Shellabarger
Preferred HF: Currently prefer 1600 and earlier, but I'll read anything that keeps me turning the page.

Hi Vaughn! My sister lives in Seattle, she co-owns Vivace, if you've ever been there.
