Just saw an ad for "The Last Templar" on NBC on Jan 25th, starring Mira Sorvino.
Unfortunately it's on the same night as the Screen Actor Guild Awards (SAGS), so if I'm able I'll have to DVR it.
SM
Don't bother.
Stelar moments of The Last Templar:
1. Mira Sorvino on horseback wearing a coctail dress and high heeled sandals jousting with a crosier, on a horse that she happens to find parked outside the museum. (oh please)
2. Her totally out of place smile while she says "I'm so sorry for your lose" in a cemetery.
3. Is there something wrong with her ears?
4. The three templars surviving the sinking of their ship full dressed in their (plastic) hauberks and armed with swords etc.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's musician sister is the subject of a forthcoming biopic - 25 years after her more famous sibling was immortalized on the big screen. Nannerl - the nickname of Maria Anna Mozart - will tell the true tale of a talented 18th century violinist, and friend of the future French king Louis XVI, who was forced to give up music by her controlling father.
The movie will have a budget of $4.5 million (£3 million) and will begin shooting in October, directed by Rene Feret.
Mozart himself was portrayed on the big screen in 1984's Amadeus by actor Tom Hulce.

Of all the periods of Catherine's life they could make a movie about they go with that one? I mean, she wasn't even shacking up with Potemkin by 1776 and it's not like Russia played any real role in the American War of Independence, save for the neutrality pact on naval blockades. They were at war with the Ottoman Empire again during that period, and just came out of Pugachev's rebellion, so I don't know what they could possibly make a film about that has any relevance to the American War of Independence.
If I could make a movie about Catherine I would have gone with her rise to the throne - ie. early life in Russia with Elizabeth, marriage to Peter III, his brief reign, her love trysts with half the male population of Europe, and then the coup to make her empress. Hell, I should just write it!
