I'm a new convert to HF from SF/fantasy and a few other things.

I was given Winter King by Bernard Cornwell and now I'm hooked. I'm really loving the Arthurian stories (currently reading Camulod by Jack Whyte) and I think I will spend a lot of time reading Dark/Middle Age HF of Britain and Western Europe.

If this is the reincarnation of the old forum, then good job on those who switched. If not, then....still...the site looks great!

Welcome, Allen. Great choices for your starting points in HF. Island of Ghosts by Gillian Bradshaw set in Roman Britain is one suggestion for you to consider.

I've just found this board via Elizabeth Chadwick's website.

I've just started reading "The Greatest Knight" by EC, quite enjoying it so far but finding it a bit difficult to keep track of what country they're in, and what year, but I've noticed other people have mentioned this too.

Interest in HF: started in childhood with the classics, which, IMHO are HF even if they were contemporary when written.
Favorite HF book: Prince of Foxes, by Samuel Shellabarger
Preferred HF: Currently prefer 1600 and earlier, but I'll read anything that keeps me turning the page.
Location: California Bay Area

Hi Grasshopper. Your handle reminds me of a very old show, Kung-Fu. As to whether this is the old forum, it's still a lot of the old posters, but it's great to see new ones! Come help make it better than the old one, post a review, toss out an opinion, liven up the threads.

Yeah I get razzed on other boards about my name.

"Ah, veddy good, Grasshoppah!"

I got that nickname from intramural softball in college. I have long legs and used to be very fast with those "Grasshopper" legs.
