I ordered a newer copy of DuMaurier's The House on the Strand today. I had a 1970 copy that I started reading a few years ago but had to throw the very moldy thing away since it triggered an asthmatic reaction. I do remember really liking the bit I read. Thanks to Misfit for reminding me to get another.

My mom has nasty nasty asthma, and she learned a trick working for the courthouse library - freezerburn will kill almost anything that takes up residence in a book. Just pop that book into your deepfreeze and leave it for a week - presto bingo, no asthma reaction.
However, buying a new book with a prettier cover works for me too

Don't know yet, haven't gotten it in the mail, but I'll definitely let you know when I've read it.
