I bought Colleen McCullough's The Independence of Miss Mary Bennett today. Thought of buying the new Robin Maxwell book--it did look interesting--but I think I 'll wait a little since I'm backed up reading-wise anyway.

Still waiting on The Silver Mirror!

Gave in and bought Robin Maxwell's Signora da Vinci today (especially since it came with blurbs from two HF Onliners--C.W. Gortner and Michelle Moran) and Ella March Chase's The Virgin Queen's Daughter. Also got A Silver Mirror in the mail today, along with Alice Harwood's The Lily and the Leopards.

Preferred HF: I like a series the best - more to look forward to after one book ends. Masters of Rome, The Century Trilogy, & the Outlander series are some of my favorites.

Spent the Amazon.com gift certificate I received :) , based on favorite books from some of your lists, for - Forever Amber (Kathleen Winsor), The Kings Pleasure:A Novel of Katharine of Aragon (Norah Lofts), The Sunne In Splendour:A Novel of Richard III (Sharon Kay Penman), The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (Mary Ann Shaffer), The Falcon of Palermo (Maria Bordihn) - I think my dog ate the cover off my original copy, The Crimson Petal and the White (Michel Faber), & the dvd The Name of the Rose.

An early birthday present arrived from my big sis: Peter Ackroyd's The Thames. I'd been perusing this in the bookstore, really wanting it but balking at the price. Fortunately, big sis didn't :) Looking forward to reading this.

Well, I didn't actually purchase mine since I got it from Paperback Swap (although I guess the cost of the postage is a "purchase") so don't feel too much pressure!!

:) :)

No worries. I'm still trying to figure out how I sold at least three copies (that I know of) of a $.01 used paperback - let alone waiting to see what the rest of you think about it.

Well, I'll buy anything that has a Despenser in it! I thumbed through it tonight (while balancing it, dinner, and Boswell in my lap) and it does look pretty good.
