It was Amazon Vine day today, so I will have two free books winging their way to me soon.

One is the new A.S. Byatt novel! So I'm very pleased. (Also ordered a NF book by Neil Sheehan about the Cold War and the arms race -- he's generally a thoughtful & intelligent writer about this kind of topic.)

I'm jealous about the AS Byatt! Actually, not, since I picked up a copy of the book while I was in London--but I'm a little perplexed by Vine's targeting strategies.

I'm leaving for France for one week in a few hours so, since I didnt want the mail piling up, I havent shopped online for 10 days (cries)

But yesterday I went out looking for some mass market paperback for the train and came back home with Les Chevaliers du Royaume of David Camus (grandson of Albert). Its about the crusades and the first book of five it seems.

So off I go. Anyone want me to say hi to Henry, Eleanor and whatever pieces of Richard they (dont) keep in Fontevraud Abbey? At least wikipedia says there is nothing of them. Oh well...

Have a good trip Emr. I want to know what Eleanor is reading while she waits for Judgement Day!

Just got via ILL The Nonsuch Lure by Mary Luke. Cool cover, plus there's a floor plan on the inside flap.
