That's pretty sad, but I'd be in the same boat without my library.

Divia, you'll have to eat my share. Doc made me give it up, blood sugar issues.

I know I get a 'giddy' feeling when I order books online then my husband laughs at me while I run to check the mail everyday checking them off my calendar untill it arrives then I tear in the wrapping like a 5 yr old at Christmas and dance around smelling the new book smell and looking through it as if it were a chest full of gold booty that I just robbed from some wiley pirate.

Between buying books and getting books from Paperback Swap, I usually get a couple of packages a week. When my husband comes up from getting the mail, he just hands me the package and says "Happy Birthday - again" (in December it was "Merry Christmas")! I tell him books are cheaper than shoes, so that usually shuts him up. :)

Ooh, I like that one. Though, alas, in my case it doesn't work. My next not-so-secret addiction is shoes . . . Sigh.

I know the feeling. I hadn't bought a book in about two and a half weeks, actually, so I decided it was time to buy new "research" books. That's how I justify my addiction when I simply have too much unread fiction sitting around. There's that new character I'm thinking of exploring, I told myself. So, I bought two nonfiction books from Spain on said character. The shipping slays me: each book costs about $20 (conversion from euros) but the shipping's another $40! They only send the books via DHL from the online store in Spain - FYI for fellow addicts: It's called Casa del Libro - so while I paid through the nose, I got that giddy "new books are here!" feeling that Nona describes within a mere five days of the order, when the package arrived at work.

I do actually want to write about this character, so the books are legit business purchases; but the truth is, I'll do anything to talk myself into buying a book. Thank god, I'm not into gambling. I'd be divorced and living on spam. :o

I couldn't stand it any more; I called Barnes and Noble and asked them to order a book for me (David Loades' The Tudor Queens of England). In a few days it'll be mine! And since it's nonfiction, I can at least say it's for research too!

are you calling for a request that B&N doesn't have in stock? or one they do't carry? I don't like B&N online thats why I ask but I do have gift cards that need to be used.

And those little book-neurons in your brain that have been shrieking "Feed me!" are now sated and happy, at least for the next 48 hours . . .

I ordered it from the brick-and-mortar B&N here because I had a cash stash and didn't want to get out my debt card to order online. Is that sneaky, or what?
