I'm THRILLED that Kate Winslet won! I don't like Penelope Cruz and am not happy she's won. Good for "Slumdog Millionaire" for all it's wins! I already figured it would be Sean Penn or Mickey Rourke who would win, but I thought Mickey had the edge, oh well, good for Sean (again).

And Heath Ledger winning was very poignant, it had me sniffing. I've heard that Michelle Williams (the mother of his daughter Matilda) will be the Oscar's custodian till Matilda turns 18 and then she has the option of keeping it or selling it back to the Academy for $1, but I sincerely doubt she would sell her father's Oscar!

Good films and Actors and Actresses....I agree about Cruz.....Look forward to watching the films on DVD....The Oscar Ceremony has lost its prestige....I'm not sure why I feel that way...but the last couple of years I just could get into them anymore.....Excuse my rant....

Oh forgot to mention that I loved Hugh as the host, I hope he's back next year. I still like the awards but for a bunch of actors presenting they made a lot of mistakes and they had a "script", sigh!

I was really proud of myself! We had a contest at work to see who got the most awards right, and despite the fact that the only movies I had seen were the three that had been nominated for Best Animated Picture, I still managed to get half of them right!

Who said lucky guesses? ;)

I don't particularly care for Penelope Cruz either - don't know why, just something about her. And I don't care for Sean Penn either, so I was disappointed that he won; I was rooting for Micky Rourke - just because, for sentimental reasons. And of course, was it any surprise at all that Heath Ledger would get the award? The others didn't stand a chance.

thou hast always been with me,
though we have been always apart." Man of LaMancha

Giving it to the dead guy has actually only happened once before. Coincidentally the last one was another Aussie as well.

In this case the dead guy deserved it. He gave a performance so convincing and creepy that I refuse to see that movie.

Selling it back to the Academy for $1? What is up with that? It must've cost more than that to make. And she could get way more going through Sotheby's or Christie's. Heck, even Ebay could yield better than one lousy buck!
