Ebook theft

Post by Margaret » Mon January 19th, 2009, 9:38 pm

An author I admire (not a historical novelist) just posted an alert on her blog about theft of ebooks: http://skywriter.wordpress.com/2009/01/ ... ogy-books/. It's something to be aware of if you're publishing in ebook form. Hopefully no one here is distributing other authors' ebooks without permission!
Browse over 5000 historical novel listings (probably well over 5000 by now, but I haven't re-counted lately) and over 700 reviews at www.HistoricalNovels.info

I totally agree with you Margaret, all the e-books that I have I bought and the others are from public domain, such as Guttenberg project. Thanks for the link.

Good to know about this.

The only ebooks I distribute are my own, and I'm not popular enough to be pirated so far.

I dont do ebooks. Its like I dont do music downloads. For me, I like to have the book/cd in my hand. Call me oldfashioned if you want, but hey, thats me!

Unfortunately e-book theft is pretty common and one of the reasons I mentioned the email agreement we do for e-book prizes.

I've even heard of reviewers giving away copies of books they've reviewed!

Oh, and yes, you can get a google alert if you're self published. You can set a google alert up for just about anything text wise.

Check out Google Alerts. It seems to be a simple enough process.
