Wow Cool - Lincoln's Bible & Obama

Post by SonjaMarie » Wed December 24th, 2008, 1:43 am

When Obama is sworn in on Jan 20th, he'll be putting his hand on the same bible used to swear in Lincoln. The bible has not been used by a president for swearing in since Lincoln.

Here's a short article from the Washington Post:
http://http://voices.washingtonpost.com ... ble23.html
Chief Justice Roger B. Taney died in Nov. 1864--Lincoln was the last president who he swore into office.

That's terrific. What a classy and very appropriate touch! I saw that on the news last night.

Won't it be wonderful to have a President who respects history!
Browse over 5000 historical novel listings (probably well over 5000 by now, but I haven't re-counted lately) and over 700 reviews at www.HistoricalNovels.info

It's already wonderful to have a President-Elect who can speak so well. Have you noticed how many people in the news media keep slipping up and calling him "President Obama" instead of "President-Elect"?

Yeah, I don't understand why we have to wait so long between election and inauguration, it sucks.
