I've just been asked to review / possibly feature the Tudor vampire novel on my blog. I said yes, because the concept intrigues me, even though the book trailer felt a bit "Dark-Shadows-Meets-Highlander" to me.

The author lives in Tel Aviv, too, which I thought was cool.
THE QUEEN'S VOW available on June 12, 2012!
THE TUDOR SECRET, Book I in the Elizabeth I Spymaster Chronicles
Oh! Now, there's a title: "The Headless Queen's Heretic Daughter: A Novel of Elizabeth I."

We should write it like you used to do in high-school during a really boring class: round-robin style. I bet we'd make a fortune.
LOL, what a brilliant idea! I even had a headless woman cover rough for you (complete with detached head!) See top of my blog!
Originally my book was going to be called "Dark Embrace" but the publisher felt it was too 50s B-movie (they had a point :) ) I then came up with "Queen of Shadows" but when Edith Felber's book came out, that title was scrapped. I literally thought of "The Last Queen" on a whim, under deadline, recalling that Juana in fact was the last queen of her medieval bloodline. So, having 'queen' in my title wasn't planned. It just morphed into that.

I'm not sure if it helped sell the book, though I think it did, as I know as a reader I'm often drawn to the words 'queen' and 'mistress.' Not sure why. I do think it's overused now, though. However, titles are conceived sometimes by publishers, just like cover art. I'm actually a bit anxious that my next book's title might get changed, and I really like "The Confessions of Catherine de Medici." It's the original working title and fits the book perfectly.
Straight forward enough. Not that it matter much but I like having Medici in there. I think some of the titles are just too deliberately vague and interchangeable. In that vein "Mistress of Machinations" would work rather well. Or "Queen But Never Mistress (of His Heart)". Or you could have turned the whole daughter trend on its ear and gone with mother instead.

No matter what, I'm still looking forward to reading it. Probably in my top three anticipated Historical fiction reads.

I've heard rumor that Cecelia Holland may have the fifth book in her Viking series out by the end of the year.

Seriously, who on earth needs more than that for a cover? They wouldn't even have to hire an expensive model. I'm thinking future HF trend here...?

Hello, I'm new here! I just wanted to let everyone know about my forthcoming book, "The Stolen One" a YA Elizabethan historical which will be published July 6th by HarperTeen/Greenwillow Books. It's the story of Katherine Bab, raised in the country, who goes to Queen Elizabeth's court to discover her true identity.

Oops. I miscounted then. Read High City last year as an arc. And the query was from me getting that arc in the first place. So it was definitely another book. Might be a reprint though. Holland has a backlist that could easily be dusted off.

The more I think about though the timeframe might be that the arcs will come out the same time High City did last year ( I got my copy toward the end of August) and the new book won't hit shelves until the first of 2010.

Only one I know of that has an expected date of early 2010 is her Eleanor of Aquitaine novel (from a different publisher). I don't get much news about reprints. She's done a few herself through Lulu, though I wouldn't mind seeing some others of hers become more widely available again.

Honestly, EC! It's perfect. It would be the start of a new trend: The headless mannequin cover. I love it!
