Interest in HF: started in childhood with the classics, which, IMHO are HF even if they were contemporary when written.
Favourite HF book: Prince of Foxes, by Samuel Shellabarger
Preferred HF: Currently prefer 1600 and earlier, but I'll read anything that keeps me turning the page.
Location: California Bay Area

Now that is an interesting list, Michelle! You've been a busy girl this year.
Here's mine: (having fun with smileys, pardon the overuse!)
2008
1. Started my own blog (but I let it lapse, what a lot of work) :(
2. Slept under the stars
5. Watched a meteor shower
6. Given more than I can afford to charity (well, really not more than we can afford, not if you've seen Africa) :o
8. Climbed a mountain
14. Taught myself an art from scratch (does editing music on CUBASE count?)
21. Had a pillow fight (what's a year without a pillow fight?)
25. Held a lamb (Okay, it was a llama cria. But you know that won't make any list.) :p
30. Watched a sunrise or sunset
37. Had enough money to be truly satisfied (have you seen Africa?)
39. Gone rock climbing :eek :( and gotten stuck half-way up a cliff. Will not repeat.
52. Kissed in the rain
53. Played in the mud
57. Started a business
60. Served at a soup kitchen
63. Got flowers for no reason
64. Donated blood, platelets or plasma
78. Been on a speeding motorcycle (25 mph is a speed.) :D
87. Killed and prepared an animal for eating (it was a chicken)
92. Joined a book club (and very good for me it has been, too.)
93. Lost a loved one :(
94. Had a (grand)baby :)
97. Been involved in a law suit (somebody who my dh tapped on the bumper -- no damage, not even paint marked -- wants 2 million from our insurance company, believe it or not)
98. Owned a cell phone
99. Been stung by a bee

How did "Owned a cell phone" get on there? At least I did that.

And stood in Times Square. But it was a good year even though I only made two out of 100.

Had I not taken a monster trip this summer, I probably would have only made two as well!

And Divia, I'm sorry about the crappy job. Will you be teaching a different grade level next year?

God am I boring :)

Seven of the above, including the cell phone. Seeing an Amish community isn't anything special around here... nearly every time I go to the Mexican restaurant down the street, there are Amish people there with their buggies, getting take-out.

I'll cross my fingers for you. I know what it's like to be teaching at a grade level that doesn't inspire you (or that you downright loathe... luckily, the latter never happened to me). Hang in there!!

Divia,

I could join you in checking crappy job and depression. I've been unhappy ever since graduating from college (dare I admit over 20 years ago). I've been in this particular crappy job for over 10 years -- I've dug myself into a hole I can't get out of it, but it pays a decent salary and the options out there aint pretty.

However, onto the quiz. I lead such a routine life, I doubted whether I could claim any of them, but did -- to my surprise -- find several:

5. Watched a meteor shower
9. Held a praying mantis
30. Watched a sunrise or sunset
43. Bought a stranger a meal at a restaurant (homeless person is the food court where I work)
53. Played in the mud
63. Got flowers for no reason
69. Saved a favorite childhood toy
99. Been stung by a bee (we had a plague of yellow jackets this year)

I haven't done anything - does fallen over in mud count in the playing in mud section?!

would have been nice to have seen a meteor shower - there was one the other night except, as always, it was so cloudy no one saw them. I have seen a meteor before though, it was gorgeous.
