Born Wilhelmina of Hesse-Darmstadt, she acquired the Russian name Natalia Alexeievna in 1773 when she married Paul at age 21. She died three years later in childbirth along with her child.

It's Emancipation Day in DC. This year marks the 150th anniversary of Pres. Lincoln freeing slaves in DC.
It's Patriots Daywhich is a civic holiday for my colleagues in Boston (celebrated on 3rd Monday of April). Alas, the rest of us employees located elsewhere have to work today.
