I'm now in Florence during August, 1963, and it's very hot.

Crossing country with the Martin Handcart Company. I had never heard of this...ummm...method of getting west before. Forget the wagon trains and being well stocked. Brigham Young gives them handcarts to push/pull made of wood so green they constantly break down, and they just have to put their faith in God to see them through.

I've been in Latinum with Lavinia, Virgil, and Ursula LeGuin. Beautiful, poetic novel.

19C, in a brothel on the outskirts of London. The prostitutes are men, and the women are the clients

Love her stuff! Read Lavinia a couple of years ago and enjoyed it immensely.
