Joyful Noise isn't a masterful work of art, but it was funny and the music was fantastic.
Tough scene with the character who has autism/Asperger's. My Mom reached over and held my hand through that.

Friends with Benefits. I kept waiting for Natalie Portman to show up. When I asked hubby, he informed me that movie was No Strings Attached. Oops!

[quote=""Ash""]I've been a fan of her music since listening to Feather on the Breath of God CD on the radio one day. Didn't realize there was a movie, I'll have to find it (there is a book, but there is so little known about H that the book is filled with speculation, and was rather boring) You might be interested in this article I just read today:

Ash, I'm so sorry I took ages to come back to this thread - and thank you for the link! Vision seems to be available via instant view now on Netflix, which is nice as I received a television for Christmas, so I have a much improved setup now.
Have been using this setup to indulge in a LOT Of different fun via my little Roku box, including a bit of Joss Whedon, some Eddie Izzard and Rowan Atkinson, bunches of Star Trek DS9, and rediscovering a childhood favorite I'm surprised to find I've been enjoying immensely, Buck Rogers (though I seem to be hitting a lag at, of all places, the point where Julie Newmar is guesting! it's like there was a mass overturn in the writing department or something, and the series doesn't seem to be having as much fun with itself as it was up to here).
Anything, I'd say, beats actually watching the cable I got because it is now actually cheaper to have it than not to. What a weird (pop-)culture this is.

Into battle we ride with Gods by our side
We are strong and not afraid to die
We have an urge to kill and our lust for blood has to be fulfilled
WE´LL FIGHT TILL THE END! And send our enemies straight to Hell!

Friends with Benefits was light weight, as expected, and didn't take itself too seriously. The funniest parts were from a "fake movie" the couple watched that mocked cliches from romantic comedies.

I actually Netflicked that only about six months ago or so (my first time seeing it, and I pretty much gulped it down). Watched it on my laptop, before the new setup. Oddly enough, when I got cable installed, there was a marathon that weekend, but since I came in in the middle of the series I didn't decide to get into it (plus: busy!), but I did enjoy a lot about that series. I think Alan Tudyk is delightful, and I don't mean that in a crushy way, he's just really funny.
The last actual movie I netflicked was "Primal Fear", a very early Edward Norton which does give indication of the actor he is, but overall was not what you'd call a highly studious procedural. I was in the mood for one of those 80s/early-90s "stylish thriller" thingies for some reason, and it fit the bill fine. Some of those movies were pretty serious howlers, but they were such a part of weekend afternoon TV for long enough they make a good background to housecleaning or the like sometimes!

Yes, Alan Tudyk is hilarious. I think he was also in Dollhouse, which I have not seen.
