Working on the front cover

Post by writerinthenorth » Tue January 10th, 2012, 12:35 pm

The artist Peter Fussey is now working on the front cover of my new book Mr Stephenson's Regret (provisional publication date 25 February), so I thought it might interest forum members to see how the cover is taking shape through the early roughs against the brief given, and to get a flavour of our conversations about the image. I've posted images and commentary here.

Fascinating to watch it develop. Thank you for sharing the process...

Thanks, I'm finding it useful, too, to get comments and observations as the process develops. I'm passing these on to Peter, who I believe is following the comments on my blog.

Front cover almost done

Post by writerinthenorth » Sun January 15th, 2012, 10:07 am

Peter Fussey the artist has now just about completed the front cover for my book Mr Stephenson's Regret. Here for your interest is his nearly-done version, together with a close-up on Robert and Fanny. Let me know what you think.

Nice. I think the artist has done a good job trying to appeal to female readers who might not otherwise try a male author writing about Stephenson.

I'm glad you think so, Wendy, as I must admit that was part of the thinking in assembling the cover as we have done.

The final version is now complete and signed off. You can view it here. Many thanks to those of you who have made observations along the way. Peter Fussey and I have found this process very helpful.
