Drunk Swedish elk (moose) found in tree

Post by parthianbow » Fri September 9th, 2011, 4:20 pm

Mad, but true!

I'm glad that all we get in the way of drunk wildlife here in the UK is badgers!

Good grief! We get drunken wood pigeons (a large native bird similar in size to a hen, but much heavier). They get squiffy on fermented berries and flounder comically around. Not so funny one day when one took a wrong turn and crashed at high speed through my living room window! Luckily it survived, though it wobbled in circles around my lounge for quite a while before lumbering into ungraceful, staggering flight out the door, much to my relief. Took me hours to clear up the shattered glass, though.

LOL, poor thing! Im glad there was a happy ending though! It's interesting that you guys call them Elk. We have Elks here in the US as well but its a totally different animal.

What we call an elk (does this kind of animal live in Europe?): http://www.google.com/imgres?q=elk&um=1 ... 29,r:2,s:0

I think they're called elk in Europe but we don't have them in the UK, just the occasional deer getting high on mushrooms!

The moose got his picture in the papers here too, hope he's over his hangover now!

@LCW: the elk in N. America are a very large type of deer. There are plenty of deer in Europe, the largest species of which is the red deer.
