Just received in the mail Carol Wensby-Scott's Proud Conquest, a novel about William the Conqueror and his wife, Matilda. I ordered this through Abebooks yonks ago and was starting to wonder what had happened to it. It must have come via the slow boat to China! I was looking forward to reading this, but oh dear, the teensy-weensy print! Might be a slow read.

This week I received courtesy of the postman:

Elizabeth I by Margaret George
The Queen's Rival by Diane Haegar
The Senses in Late Medieval England by CM Woolgar
(I have had that last one on the wishlist for ages waiting for a good deal - IIRC someone recommended it highly ?maybe EC - and something along the line of "a book to save from a burning building"? Have not had much more than a flick through it as yet but there are gorgeous pictures that's for sure!)

The mailman brought me "The Greatest Traitor: The Life of Sir Roger Mortimer" by Ian Mortimer. Who knew how difficult it would be to buy Mortimer's books?! Tried Abe and Book Depository. I'm thinking Americans really get jipped because TBD really doesn't offer a lot to us! My rant for the day!

Yep, it would probably have been me! It gives you a whole different perspective on the way the Medievals experienced their world!

In the mail today: The Plantagenets by Derek Wilson and Matilda, Queen of the Conqueror by Tracy Borman. Thank you, EC2 for piquing my interest in this time period! :)
