LoveHistory's reading list.

Post by LoveHistory » Thu January 6th, 2011, 4:11 pm

Hopefully longer than last year's but probably still pretty short compared to most of the members here.

I started the year with Faith L. Justice's Selene of Alexandria, which I really enjoyed.

Then I read Candide. Still processing that one, not sure what I think yet.

I'll be reading NaNo novels for a while now. This is my first year doing swaps.

Finished The Short Stories of F. Scott Fitzgerald, which I started last year.

Began Marie Antoinette: The Journey by Antonia Fraser.

Finished Modern American Short Stories, published in 1945. Not impressed. A few good ones, but mostly so-so.

On to Silas Marner by George Eliot.

No, Wendy I haven't read The Mill On The Floss yet. I picked up Silas Marner at the new bookstore in town. They had a used copy in good condition.

Now to Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh. Hope to finish before April 1st so I can read GWTW for BOTM, which would be only fitting as it was my nomination.

I did finish Brideshead Revisited in time. I really liked it. Not sure I can explain why though.

Now I'm reading Gone With the Wind for the most part, and supplementing with my "upstairs book" Trade Wind by M.M. Kaye.

Finished Trade Wind. I love the complexity of the plot, the realness of the characters and of course the exotic locale, though it is far from a paradise. Will keep my eye out for more M.M. Kaye books.

Still on Gone With The Wind.

Seems like this month I'm reading weather titles, with an emphasis on wind. Anybody have recommendations for what kind of weather I should read about next?
