For The King's Favor - Free on Kindle
"For the King's Favor" is currently free on Kindle (though not on Nook or in the UK Kindle store - not sure why, maybe that will change): http://www.amazon.com/For-the-Kings-Fav ... 344&sr=8-3
Wish they'd tell me. They offered The Greatest Knight free the other week and there were 65,000 + downloads!

The gals at Paperbackswap have been chatting up the fact that TDAK is going rather cheaply, but not quite free...

Apparently, For the King's Favor was only free for a day - Books on the Knob says it was never supposed to be free but I don't know where they got that info. It's a great promotional tool though - after being free for only one day, it is now one of the bestselling historical novels on Kindle: http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/di ... =zg_bs_nav (yesterday it was number 1)
Available freee in UK today but it is the US edition - unless there is only one edition
It's the same as The Time of Singing, just a different title from the US publisher.

Hmmm - on the positive side it is good publicity.
On the negative I didn't see a single royalty and that's one heck of a lot of copies. Okay, a lot of people wouldn't have bought it if they had to pay. Everyone likes free stuff and some people would have been trying it out to see if they liked it - some evidently didn't because a few left stinky reviews at Amazon - and moaned because they'd been suckered into downloading it for nothing. Sheesh! Some did love the novel and may go on to become readers, which is a good thing.
I think Sourcebooks are to be applauded for experimenting and seeing how best to trim their sails (or should that be sales), but I wouldn't have minded a small royalty. Not a greedy one, but just some token of acknowledgement, and I would have liked them to tell me rather than just put it out there.
