1) Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen; finished 1/3/11; Wonderful book! Excellent characterization, plot, etc. Especially liked the juxtaposition of the main character as a young man and as an elderly man.

2) The Queen of Last Hopes by Susan Higginbotham; finished 1/17/11; I love any book that can help me further understand the Wars of the Roses. Now I have to think about Margaret of Anjou in a different way.

I've been eyeing that one.
At home with a good book and the cat...

It's the February book, so give it a try! I read it quickly (for me) because I had two snow days off from school this past week.

4) Great Maria by Cecelia Holland; finished 2/5/11; What an interesting and memorable character Maria is! Since I didn't know much about Sicily in this time period, I enjoyed vicariously living it through this novel.
