Good luck, writerinthenorth! I have a friend who made it pretty far and enjoyed the excitement of it all.

Fljustice and MLE, I too have difficulties with pitches. I've read through Query Shark and just when I think I finally "get" it, I don't.

I'm off to take a look at writerinthenorth's blog.

Thanks for the note Alisha. I took a look at your blog as a result, and really enjoyed it. I'd like to recommend it to others who may not have made the visit yet.

Hey Alisha, I just checked out your blog. Loved reading about your adventure with Storm the hawk. We have a wonderful Raptor Center in Charlotte where I adopted an American Kestrel. They are magnificent creatures.

Thanks for checking out my blog! I try to post every Friday afternoon now.

Writerinthenorth, I enjoyed your blog as well. I tried to comment but it wouldn't take for some reason. It could have been my computer. I have internet issues sometimes.

Wendy, that is so cool that you adopted a kestrel! I think I'm seeing some of those around my house. Are they blue and orange with a black stripe near the eye?
I just love Storm. She is injured right now and so we've not been able to hunt. :( That experience really helped me to write the hawking scene in my book.

Oh and what's the premise for your upcoming Blackest of Magic book? Your summer book looks great! Congrats!

Yes - here's a good close-up shot: http://www.jsteinfoto.com/american-kestrel.html

Yes! That picture shows the bird that I've been seeing! They are gorgeous. I forgot to tell you the most amazing thing though...a pair of bald eagles have a nest near a man made pond down the road from me. They are so big. I saw one dive toward the water and then come up just a bit, skimming its talons along the placid pond.

I'm crossing my fingers for your book! It's tough these days, isn't it?

Quarter final

Post by writerinthenorth » Tue March 22nd, 2011, 6:28 pm

Just discovered I've reached the quarter final (last 250 in General Fiction) with 'Mr Stephenson's Regret' so I'm pleased with that.
